Believe it or not, it was a fun experience
A dear friend of ours was diagnosed with early-onset Alzheimer's last year, and recently decided to move to a memory care residential community. He is now living in a studio apartment at that facility and couldn't be happier. The move was successful because we hired Melissa and her wonderful assistant Angela.
Melissa and her company “Moving with Simplicity” were recommended by the facility. We were looking for someone who could provide “concierge service,” and be able handle all the details of the move including relocating over 27 pieces of art, books, clothing, and other personal items.
Melissa met me at the facility a week before the move to determine the placement of all furniture including several new items we needed to purchase because of the unit’s limited space (e.g., couch, desk, and twin size bed). Melissa provided excellent guidance about the new items down to the details of the best comforter to purchase for the new bed.
The day of the move, Melissa and Angela showed up with the movers (who were exemplary also) at 9:00 a.m. to pack and load the items to be moved. In less than three hours, they were on their way to the facility.
Once at the facility, Melissa was able to arrange the works of art and furniture, and organize the clothing and personal items, in a very professional and efficient manner. She was creative, highly skilled, and dedicated to making sure our friend's new unit felt like “home.” Even after 10 hours, she had a smile on her face. Believe it or not, it was a fun experience.
When our friend saw the room for the first time ("the reveal"), he was very pleased and felt right at home.
Melissa and her crew were the perfect choice for this job. We would hire Moving with Simplicity again without any reservations.

Phenomenal job
Melissa and her crew did a phenomenal job planning, executing and following up on a recent move for our friend Paige (84yo). Five star (*****) rating across the board. Melissa gently guided Paige through downsizing, taking breaks when needed, and then donated or sold items that could be reused and discarded things that were no longer of value. Melissa made many trips to the thrift store to deliver donations.
Melissa’s packing crew came in on multiple days before the move, packing pictures & decorative items first and everyday items the day before the move.
Melissa chose a local mover, who showed up promptly at 7AM to start loading the truck, and did a great job getting everything into Paige’s new home by 1PM. Melissa and her crew worked until 7PM to unpack everything into kitchen, closets & drawers, then hung all the pictures. When they were done, the crew removed all the packing materials and it looked Paige had lived there for several years.
During the downsizing & packing, Melissa also drove Paige to the Post Office, Xfinity, Verizon and Apple stores to cancel service to her old home and move service to her new senior community. Melissa’s commitment to the move was extraordinary. She took Paige to the Apple store to resolve unexpected phone issues at 3PM, then boarded a plane at 9PM the same day for a trip to Europe. She also contacted Paige from Europe to make sure the phone was working, and has continued to solve post-move problems.
Without Melissa, I’m not sure Paige would have been able to make the move at all.

Helpful and even fun
My experience with Melissa was extraordinarily helpful and even fun. Faced with triaging through 2 family estates, items that our adult kids left behind and 40 years of our own stuff, I was definitely overwhelmed since this job needed to be done in 2 months, ahead of putting our home of 22 years up for sale. Melissa and her team effectively “read the room”, determining when I could be pushed forward and when I needed a break. Every small detail was attended to, even making sure I stayed hydrated during our triage sessions. Items were sorted into categories I didn’t even know existed and items were immediately handled and removed from the premises. You will come to see that removing items immediately from the house is a very desirable feature of what this team offers. Melissa and her team swiftly handled decisions about which outside entity should receive which donated or trashed item, taking that burden completely off of our shoulders. Melissa easily worked around the schedule of contractors who were simultaneously remodeling our home, another very desirable skill. Melissa easily took on additional challenges such as packing up part of my art studio and helping me decide which items would become part of my temporary traveling studio since we faced a few moves before the final one. Melissa also brings a keen understanding of psychology as well as a great deal of warmth and genuine kindness. I highly recommend Melissa and her team and would hire them again in a heartbeat. You will be so glad you hired them too.

Total lifesaver
Melissa was a godsend! We had the daunting and seriously overwhelming task of moving an elderly parent out of an extremely cluttered and overfilled home, and Melissa's company, Moving With Simplicity, came to the rescue. Melissa handled every detail from start to finish. She patiently and carefully helped our parent sort, pack, and make the difficult decisions about what to keep, donate, or discard. I loved that she was thoughtful about all the donations and made trips to homeless shelters, habitat for humanity, and other community organizations to make sure things got to a good home. She handled everything about the move, including packing, staging, delivering, and organizing everything in the new location, even hanging pictures & art, which made it so easy for us! Melissa not only did all these tasks, but she did them all with such care and kindness for our aging parent. She is a amazing and was a total lifesaver for us.
